VISA AND PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS
It is the participant's responsibility to have a valid passport and all visas required to enter Canada. Please give yourself sufficient time to apply for any necessary visas, we recommend 8-12 weeks. Toronto Languages Plus is NOT a visa service and we will not advise on the visa process. We will, however, provide an acceptance letter (for the purpose of obtaining a visa), upon request only. Participants who require this letter will be charged a non-refundable fee of $150 at the time of enrollment. Should you require an original copy you must allow a minimum of 4 weeks for regular postal delivery. Any additional costs related to the sending of an invitation/acceptance letter will be your responsibility of the student. Acceptance letters will only be sent once full payment of the program has been received.
For any questions or advice regarding visa requirements it is the participants responsibility to contact the Canadian consulate or Embassy within your home country.
Should your visa be declined or is unavailable at the time of your departure, our normal cancellation policies will apply.
Once the completed enrollment form has been signed and sent to Toronto Languages PLUS, it means that you have read and understood our terms and conditions and agree to be bound by them.
DEPOSIT PAYMENTS
We encourage students to pay in full at the time of enrolment, however, at minimum, a deposit and enrollment form must be received before Toronto Languages PLUS will hold a space for you. The following non-refundable deposits are required of all students:
For programs under $3000: A non-refundable $300 CAD deposit is due.
For programs exceeding $3000: A non-refundable deposit of 10% of the total fees is due.
We will accept the following forms of payment: Credit Card, Cheque (made payable to "Languages PLUS") or Bank Transfer. Should you choose to make a bank transfer our bank details are available on our website or upon request.
PAYMENT SCHEDULE
A non-refundable deposit is due at the time of enrollment.
The balance of all program fees is always due no later than 45 days before the program start date. If the balance of the program has not been received 45 days prior to the programs start date, an additional late fee of $45.00 will be charged. If final payment has not been received by 21 days prior to the start date, Toronto Languages Plus has the right to cancel the program with no notice to the student. All deposits are absolutely non-refundable in this case.
For programs booked less than 45 days prior to the start date, full payment plus the $45 late booking fee is due.
CANCELLATION NOTICE & REFUND POLICY
Notice of cancellation must be made in writing directly to Toronto Languages PLUS. The cancellation date is the day that written notification is received by our office. The deposit is non-refundable upon cancellation by you.

REFUNDS
All refunds will be paid by CHECK ONLY and will be processed within 8 - 12 weeks (Toronto Languages PLUS cannot guarantee a specific date on which you will receive the check).
All requests for alternative payment methods must be made in writing and approved by Toronto Languages PLUS. A $100.00 service fee will apply. No refunds will be paid in cash.
CHANGE OF PROGRAM
All program changes must be made in writing to Toronto Languages PLUS at least 2 weeks in advance of the change or program start. The date of notification of change is the day that written notification is received by our office. Any additional payments due because of the change must be paid immediately. Any refunds owed will be sent by check upon completion of the program.
Changes made before the program: Should you change your program (dates, school, accommodation options) any time prior to departure, you will be charged a change fee of $50.00. This fee will be waived if you upgrade your program.
Changes made during program: Should you change your program (not including early returns - see below) once the program has started, you must notify Toronto Languages PLUS in writing at least 2 weeks in advance. Program changes will be made only to the full course weeks. In this case you will be charged a change fee of $100.00.
All change fees are due immediately upon request of the change.
LATE ARRIVALS AND ABSENCES
If you arrive late to a course or are absent during the course, no refunds will be granted for the missed days. Classes cancelled in honour of local public holidays will not be made up and are not subject to any refund. All public holidays are listed on our website.
EARLY RETURNS
No refund will be given for early returns. However, if you must cancel your program due to a personal emergency or other unforeseeable cause, please notify Toronto Languages PLUS in writing as soon as possible prior to your departure from the program and we will review your claim. Toronto Languages PLUS reserves the right to make the final decision on any refunds.
GRIEVANCES
You must inform the school staff immediately of any situation affecting the quality of your program (including but not limited to course or accommodation). Toronto Languages PLUS reserves the right to refuse a refund if you have declined to accept reasonable solutions offered to you by the school staff or Toronto Languages PLUS. Matters outside of the control of the school or Toronto Languages PLUS shall not be considered for refunds. Place & court of jurisdiction is Toronto/Canada.
ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE DATES
Unless otherwise noted in your confirmation letter, accommodation is available on the Sunday before the course begins until the Saturday following the end of the course. Extra night accommodation can be booked at the time of enrollment for an additional cost (subject to availability).
We strongly recommend that students do not book flights until after their program has been confirmed by our office.
If you have booked an airport pick-up or one is included in the program of your choice, Toronto Languages PLUS must receive your arrival information at least 2 weeks prior to your start date. Airport pick-up includes transportation from the airport directly to your accommodation only. If you have no airport pick-up booked and do not send us your arrival information we cannot guarantee that your family/landlord will be available to greet you upon arrival. Any additional costs (hotel, taxis, etc) incurred due to your failure to provide Toronto Languages PLUS with your arrival information at least 2 weeks in advance are your responsibility.
COURSE LEVELS
Toronto Languages PLUS offers a range of language level options from beginner to advanced. Upon arrival, all students (except absolute beginners) will take a written and an oral test to determine at what level they should begin their studies. This placement test normally takes between 20 and 45 minutes to complete.
It is possible, though not common, that the results of the placement tests lead to cases of only one or two students at a particular level. In these cases the school reserves the right to continue the instruction as private or semi-private lesson with a reduction in the number of classroom hours. These situations are to be considered an upgrade to the program, at no extra cost.
CLASS HOURS AND SCHEDULES
Throughout our brochure and website we refer to numbers of "lessons". All lessons last a minimum of 45 minutes. Classes are scheduled either in the morning or the afternoon. Toronto Languages PLUS CANNOT guarantee specific scheduling requests. Scheduling is set by the school and may be affected by the program selected.
ORGANIZED SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
Toronto Languages Plus offers organized social and cultural activities. Depending on the activity, there may be a cost involved. The amount relates directly to the activity (bus fares, museum entrance fees, etc).
SCHOOL RULES AND REGULATIONS
Toronto Languages PLUS programs are designed for adults 18 years of age and over. Toronto Languages PLUS cannot be held responsible for providing supervision of any kind either through the school or through the host families. Participants are expected to be courteous and respectful at all times. Illegal drug use or abusive behavior at any age or alcoholic consumption by minors will not be tolerated.
Toronto Languages PLUS reserves the right to refuse to serve, to cancel and/or terminate participation for any person who fails to comply with the policies of the program provider (eg. the school, tour operator, program organizer), or for any other reason deemed necessary. We also reserve the right to send home any participant who violates the rules stated above, without escort and without refund. The return trip will be at the expense of the participant.
A $20 CAD charge applies for all certificate requests after graduation up to a maximum of 6 months (e.g. lost, misplaced, etc) Payment must be received prior to issuing a new certificate. We cannot provide a certificate that does not meet the above conditions.
UNDER 18 Students
Toronto Languages PLUS programs are designed for and attended by adults. Some programs will make an exception to the minimum age of 18. However, students and parents must be aware that it is likely that there will not be many students under 18 and that all activities will be suitable for adults (this may include evenings spent at local bars, pubs etc). Neither Toronto Languages PLUS nor any chosen accommodation (e.g. host family, residence, etc) will provide any kind of supervision for anyone under 18 attending an adult program.
All students under the age of 18 must include a completed waiver, signed by both themselves and their parents, with their enrollment. No enrollment will be considered without a signed waiver.
LIABILITY
While participating in this program you may be exposed to certain risks. These risks include, but are not limited to, accident and/ or sickness without readily available medical facilities, forces of nature, and acts of war. By signing the enrollment form you are acknowledging and assuming these risks.
Participants in any Toronto Languages PLUS program waive any liability against Toronto Languages PLUS and its employees, for any injury, loss, damage, accident, expense or delay caused by or related to means of transportation or lodging (including host families). The participant understands that he/she is traveling under his/her own responsibility (if a minor, the parents or guardian assumes this responsibility) and releases Toronto Languages PLUS and its employees from any liability related to health and safety.
Toronto Languages PLUS shall be responsible for providing the services outlined to the participant. In the event that the services and accommodation outlined cannot be provided due to causes beyond the control of Toronto Languages PLUS, all efforts will be made to provide comparable services and accommodation. If, due to insufficient enrollment, a class or program has to be cancelled, Toronto Languages PLUS shall only be responsible for reimbursing the participant the amount of funds paid for the program (excluding any transportation expenses).
